Project Details

The Highway 101: Carpinteria to Santa Barbara project seeks to relieve traffic congestion from Carpinteria to Santa Barbara by adding several High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes to Highway 101 in that area. This phased approach includes:

  • Widening Highway 101 to 6 lanes from Carpinteria to Santa Barbara;

  • Reconstructing overcrossings at Cabrillo Blvd. and Sheffield Road;

  • Remediating or replacing creek bridges and under crossings; and

  • Replacing existing pavement, shoulder widening and improving ramps from Casitas Pass Road to Sheffield Road.
